Aboriginal paintings are a rich and varied art form.
This online gallery offers a fine selection of Australian
Aboriginal paintings by artists from communities in the
Kimberley, Central and Western Desert and Top End (including
Arnhem Land) regions of Australia.
The variety of painting
styles in the regions is described in our Regions
and communities section.
Paintings are
arranged by regions - click on the link to see paintings
from a particular region.
If you want to read a short
biography of the one of the artists, go to the Art
and Artists section of our Website.
The gallery is arranged with eight smaller images of
Aboriginal paintings on the one Web page. If you wish
to see one in a larger size, click on the smaller image
- a new browser window will open showing a larger image.
To keep browsing, just close the window and return to
the page of images. To see more paintings, click on the
"Next" button at the bottom of the page.
To find a painting by a particular artist, you can use
our Web site search facility to search by artist's name
or other term (see navigation bar on the left).
All paintings shown in the gallery are for sale. If you
are interested in possibly buying one, you can confirm
that the painting is still available and find out about
delivery and insurance charges by clicking on the "Inquire"
button - this opens an email form.
All works are unframed
unless identified explicitly as being framed - some are
on stretcher frames (for example, paintings in ochre)
while others are usually sent as rolled canvases.
The paintings have been selected through visits or discussions
with Aboriginal communities and artists and are warranted
by us to be as described and attributed (see the Shopping
and online security policy).
