The painting below is by Peter Brown, who works in
acrylic on canvas. Peter is a Palawa man (Tasmanian
Aborigine). He is from the "Big River Tribe"
of central Tasmania.
He states: "My interest and inspirations stem from my spiritual connection to my land and my culture. My paintings are often expressed in the spiritual dimension and dreamings. My preferred medium is traditional ochres. However because I have been imprisoned (in prison) for some 18 years my main medium is acrylics with an emphasis on traditional earthly colours. My artwork has been in various Aboriginal art exhibitions around Tasmania; including a Behind Bars exhibition that toured Tasmania."
