Since it was launched in October 2000, the site has had a very positive
response from visitors and users - see the Client comments page.
Visitors often inquire about the value of particular paintings or
other art works that they own. While we do not make valuations or
appraisals ourselves, we do offer some suggestions about valuation
and appraisal services elsewhere.
We have developed a set of conditions and policies
that cover the use of our web site. These cover such things as copyright,
advertising and limitations of liability. Separate policies cover personal
privacy and use of our online shopping facility.
We recognise that your privacy is important to you
and that you have a right to privacy for your personal information.
We have adopted policies that strictly control how we protect any personal
information you provide to us. In particular, we follow the National
Principles for the Fair Handling of Personal Information developed
by the Australian Federal Privacy Commissioner in 1998.
Respect for Aboriginal culture and social conventions
is an essential part of our relations with Aboriginal people and in
the information we provide through our Web site or newsletter. In particular,
we respect the concerns of some Aboriginal artists that digital images
of their work could be downloaded or misused. We therefore offer all
artists the option of having the digital files of their images protected
using encryption or watermarking. Details are in our Cultural policy.
and Online Security
The shopping area of our Web site allows you to buy
a range of art works using your credit card (either
by our secure online e-commerce link or by faxing or posting us your
details) or cheque for payment. Our Shopping and Online Security
Policy sets out our guarantee to you about quality of goods, returns
policy and security of your credit card details. We use leading edge
e-commerce facilities and guarantee that you are protected from any
risk of loss arising from providing your credit card details through
our e-commerce link.
Please note that from 30 June 2017 Aboriginal Art Online will no longer be trading as an online gallery. Paintings currently listed on the site will not be available after this date.
