This important "Fire and Water" Suite of 12
beautiful etchings was created in May 2003 by some of
Yuendumu's most significant artists, working in collaboration
with professional art printers. Yuendumu is one of the
most active centres for print making in the whole of the
central and western Desert.
Dreamings of the Rain Being and also the spectacular
Warlpiri Fire ceremony have inspired these images which
are rich in ancient symbols of bushfires, waterholes,
lightning, rain and desert soaks.

All prints are image size 16 x 19 cms. The etchings
were created on zinc plates at Warlukurlangu art centre
and returned for processing by master printers at Northern
Editions in Darwin. The edition size was limited to 50.
The complete edition is sold out.
Yuendumu artists have produced a substantial number of
limited edition prints in the form of silk screen prints
and etchings. One of the most successful previous sets
was the "Yuendumu Doors" suite by Paddy Japaljarri
Stewart and Paddy Japaljarri Sims which won the Telstra
Award in 2001 for works on paper. It is now a collector's
item, has increased significantly in value and is held
by Australia's major art galleries.
