Paintings from WarakurnaBlackstone Paintings - Art from the east of Western Australia

Gwion

Blackstone (Papulankutja) is a remote community situated in the the extreme east of Western Australia, near the Northern Territory border. It lies between the Gibson Desert and the Great Victoria Desert at the foot of the picturesque Blackstone Ranges. Artists of the community paint their country and depict some of the important stories of the region such as the Wati Kutjarra (two men), Seven Sisters, Pukara (a waterhole) and Ilurrpa (another waterhole). For more information, see our page on Blackstone community.
